Who are we and what do we do?
So who are we? Well, we are one of the most recognizable sea food brands in the country, Ocean Basket! As we are constantly growing we require more staff to assist us with this growth phase.

In terms of what we do, we offer the best seafood at affordable prices. Allowing our patrons to enjoy their meals in a vibrant and brand-new restaurant.

Some of the Key Activities & Responsibilities which can be expected:
(By no means an exhaustive list)
• Calculate future needs in kitchenware, equipment, stock and place orders, as needed
• Manage and store vendors’ contracts and invoices
• Coordinate communication between front of the house and back of the house staff
• Prepare shift schedules
• Process payroll documents for all restaurant staff
• Supervise kitchen and wait staff and provide assistance in both FOH/BOH, as needed
• Keep detailed records of daily, weekly and monthly costs and revenues
• Complete stock takes
• Manage staff effectively and deal with HR issues in conjunction with service providers
• Arrange for new employees’ proper onboarding (scheduling trainings and ordering uniforms)
• Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations
• Gather guests’ feedback and recommend improvements to our menus

So what skills and experience are we looking for?

- Hands-on Restaurant experience is a must, the successful candidate will have at least 4 to 5 years’ experience in management (i.e. running the entire restaurant without or with very limited supervision)
- Strong Administrative abilities
- Excellent health due to long working hours
- Experience in the seafood industry will be advantageous
- A minimum of Grade 12, a tertiary qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills
- Presentable and professional
- Bilingual (At least two of South African official languages, with English being the primary language medium due to our clients requirements)
- Focussed on building long term relationships
- Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to get you from point A to B.
