RedCat Recruitment is seeking a suitably experienced FRUIT AND VEGETABLE BUYER for a national company – position based in Cape Town.

JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12.
At least 5 years’ experience in the procurement / buying field.
Extensive knowledge of local South African fruit (and vegetable) growers and packhouses.
Extensive knowledge of international fruit (and vegetable) growers and packhouses.
Experience in building relationships with growers and a successful track record of doing so
Experience in negotiating and implementing systems
Extensive knowledge of fruit (and vegetables), their seasonality and quality standards
A successful track record in the fruit procurement field
Person will be responsible for developing the company’s existing relationships with fruit and vegetable suppliers and finding new and relevant suppliers where required.
Purchasing of deciduous and citrus fruit with existing and new South African suppliers
Price negotiations with growers and packhouses.
Implementation of seasonal programs.
Quality control.
Dealing with claims and negotiating the best settlement for clients.
Reporting on the availability and range of the fruit (and vegetables) to business development managers.
