Job Description

Managing SHEQ compliance
Utilising the IMS (Information Management System) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
Ensuring an enabling culture/climate
Managing labour stability by minimising staff turnover
Managing performance against set targets and competencies
Conducting career discussions and implementing actions with all identified talent
Maintaining discipline for eg. overtime, absenteeism etc
Training and counselling staff for improved performance levels
Recruitment interviews
Jointly define annual Service Level Agreements with plant production personnel
Put systems and controls in place to ensure the plant is maintained.
Defining equipment using a risk matrix
Defining and managing the overall maintenance strategy for the plant
Ensuring outcomes of RCA’s are evaluated for their business case, implemented as applicable and are sustainable
Selecting equipment vendors as per maintenance standards
Performing planned job observations
Document and reviewing the plant maintenance strategy on annually to ensure that it is aligned with the business plan
Adherence to maintenance work management principles (percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns, number of proactive requests) to obtain maximum plant availability at minimum maintenance cost per unit produced
Managing the Engineering Assets to produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life
Adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications
Periodically audit the asset and documentation to obtain maximum standardisation of spares and new plant installations on the site
Interrogating non-published reports standard
Investigating and communicating Commercial Exceptions
Following up warranty claims on component failures on highly important equipment
Contractor Management
Budgeting which includes preparation of maintenance budget per equipment, consolidating maintenance budget per plant, monitoring plant maintenance budget, action variances of actual to planned costs and monitoring over/under Maintenance

Minimum Requirements

Relevant Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
6 years relevant experience within the mining industry
2 years managerial experience
Government certificate of comp[etency GCC (Mines and works)
Professional registration with ECSA
Must have a valid driver’s license
