The role is responsible for managing/overseeing the total maintenance function to achieve required plant and fleet availability and reliability in order to enable operations to achieve production targets safely and efficiently. This role also carries legal responsibility in terms of the South African Mine Health and Safety Act, whilst adhering to principles, integrated with local environmental considerations.

Job Description

Ensuring the competence of teams responsible for the signing off of Resources, Reserves and other legal requirements.
Responsible for ensuring that necessary new systems and processes are put into place across the project and teams to ensure the success and profitability of the business unit
Manage and co-ordinate safety and wellness initiatives.
Achieve production, safety and costs within the boundaries of the relevant Rules and Regulations.
Provide overall strategic direction for all disciplines in line with the Company's values and mission.
Ensure that the agreed business strategic objectives are met timeously.
Develop, present and manage the agreed business plan for the business.
Ensure that relevant corporate governance and appropriate management systems are in place and continuously updated.
Communicate, motivate and build relationships at all levels within the organisation and all stakeholders such as the surrounding communities.
Optimise the business plan to ensure the overall success of the company.
Optimal utilization of resources.
Identify and manage risks and opportunities for the business.
Knowledge of all relevant legal requirements and compliance thereof.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives, projects and processes towards ensuring focused business growth and alignment with international standards and practices.
Ability to manage mining execution against approved plans.

Minimum Requirements

Relevant mining degree/diploma
At least 12 - 15 years experience in open pit mining along with 7+ years in a Senior Mine Management role
5+ years managing various plants - specifically DMS (Dense Media Separation) / Crushing & Screening / Wash Plant )
Working experience of 4.1 / 3.1 Legal Appointment
Relevant experience in management a large and diverse team in a mining environment
Must have strong administrative ability and having acquired good reporting skills
