Responsibilities

• Responsible for full P&L for the Malaysia, Colombia, USA, HKG-based freight business unit
• Establish and obtain membership to the major international freight forwarding associations
• Develop contractual relationships with overseas partners, global sea and air freight carriers
• Deal directly with sea and air freight carriers to obtain the best rates and fastest lead times for inbound and outbound shipments
• Develop and implement an efficient process to provide the sales team and operations with immediate shipping rates for customer quotations
• Manage and track all in and outbound shipments worldwide to ensure smooth delivery
• Experience shipping to and from the following locations is preferred:
- The USA, Europe (UK, AMS), Argentina, India, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia
• Manage relationships with 3PL warehouse partners worldwide for 3rd party receiving, handling (including repacking), and dispatching
• Develop systems to optimize shipping document generation to help streamline operations
• Liaise daily with remote-based management. This will require availability by phone and email outside of regular business hours
• Maintain a highly organized log of all shipments globally from start to finish
• Compile and submit weekly and monthly management reports

Requirements:

• Candidate possesses at least Diploma / bachelor’s degrees in relevant major
• South African / foreigners with valid work permit or permanent residents of South Africa
• 2-3 years of work experience (must)
• Works well with deadlines
• Knowledge of logistics systems
• Understanding of transportation limitations and regulations
• Ability to contribute individually to the greater goal

• Understanding of transportation issues
• Knowledge of logistics subset (e.g. People working in ground transportation need to have an understanding of trucking and rail shipments)
