SUMMARY

Our client, a global leader in molten metal flow engineering and technology, requires a Group Leader Production Kiln that will be responsible for the daily production and maintenance operation activities of the Brick plant, with a focus on Quality, Customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of efficiencies, to ensure Operations remain cost-effective.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Stock control to prevent any excessive variances that may result in financial loss
Lead an operational team to meet production performance targets & reduce cost
Ensure full compliance of the Vesuvius Group as well as the local safety standards, policies and procedures. Report risks and opportunities for improvements related to duties
Supervise the warehouse, setting, offloading, kilns, and brick layers
Execute daily setting plan, and weekly buffer control at the drier
Prioritise activities at offloading and warehouse to ensure on-time delivery (OTD)
Communicate with stores & suppliers on packaging materials & forecasting
Implement standard work instructions (SWI’s) for repetitive tasks. Create PR’s
Do risks and economic assessments. Adhere to ISO 9001 and 14001 systems
Implement and maintain MIFA and 5S projects. Report KPI in daily plant meetings.
Maintain and improve the Ex Kiln Reject rate to <2.5% at off-loading
Ensure CCAR Corrective actions are implemented and documents updated
Ensuring a structured plan for Kiln Car repair to ensure continuous operation
Monitoring the Scrap & rework, Kiln production and temperature spreadsheets
Monitoring the kiln pushing rate and planning on the changeovers.
Generate green cards for plant breakdowns and other issues. Maintain timekeeping.
Loyd’s audits compliance, both internal & external audit participation.
Responsible for shift and management of maintenance and production and reporting it.
Ensuring that daily target at setting, and offloading is met & report abnormalities.
Must have a good understanding of manufacturing processes & products
General housekeeping, and must work overtime, if required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12/Matric.
5 to 10 years’ experience as a Production Supervisor or equivalent in a Manufacturing environment
