Minimum Requirements...
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Accredited Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Science. An MBA or similar post graduate management qualification would be advantageous

EXPERIENCE:
• 10 Years SHE experience of which at least 5 years in a senior SHE management position in a large organisation.
• Demonstrated track record in leading and successfully implementing a SHE strategy in a multi-site organisation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Strong leadership and influencing skills
• Report writing skills
• Knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental best practices as well as relevant legislation
• Managerial skills

Job Specification...
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Set the vision, and lead the strategic development, implementation and compliance (legal, regulatory, otherwise) monitoring of the Group SHE strategy, programs, policies, processes and initiatives. Lead the development of the company's safety maturity from it's current state to a World Class standard while ensuring the development and implementation of optimal, cost effective, best practice health and wellness and environmental management interventions and practices. Interact with business leaders at all levels of the Group, including the Board SHE Committee, the Aveng Exco, Group Executives, senior line managers as well as Group SHE Managers. A key area of responsibility is the chairing of the Group SHE Forum and collates and presents all Group SHE Reports to the various Group management and Board committees. In collaboration with executives and leaders, drive the development and implementation of the Group's overall roadmap towards a world class SHE culture. Act as an advisor on SHE matters with all relevant stakeholders.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES)
• Leadership and oversight
o Provide corporate level oversight of the Group's global SHE programs as executed by the operating groups
o Lead the development of the Group's long term SHE roadmap, vision and strategy towards a world class SHE culture
o Organise and lead initiatives to identify issues and trends, share best practices, benchmark results, and to identify, develop and review strategic SHE initiatives that impact all of the Group's operating units
o Lead the acquisition of new knowledge in the field of SHE and ensure an advantageous position of the Group to reach a world class SHE culture
o Lead the Group's approach in ensuring that "Home Without Harm' Everyone Everyday" becomes a way of life in everything we do

• Corporate standards, Governance, Compliance and Training
o Partner with the operating groups leadership team to define the Group's global SHE standards and to construct, implement and oversee a global SHE governance and auditing criteria and program
o Ensure that the Group's operating units are in compliance with the legal requirements and the Group's global SHE standards
o Review and interpret government codes, and develop programmes to ensure adherence to requirements.
o Establish group guidelines, procedures and policies that comply with new and revised regulations, and direct their implementation.
o Monitor regulated activities to ensure compliance with laws.
o Provide technical guidance to direct and indirect reports

• Reporting and benchmarking
o Analyse reports and data to identify trends and issues and provide balanced SHE scorecards including results of both leading and lagging indicators
o Write health and safety reports as required by various internal company reporting structures and provide recommendations where required.
o Responsible for compiling and completing the SHE information requirements of the Group's annual sustainability reporting initiatives
o Maintain proactive relationships with external parties such as government authorities / organisations, subject-expert organisations, etc.
o Develop and implement adequate publications, reports, key performance indicators and other communication tools to inform the internal and external stakeholders of the Group's performance
o Manage all SHE activities in support of board and sub-committee meetings

• Safety, Health, Environment Management
o Chair the Group SHE Forum
o Provide expertise in the design, management and evaluation of safety health and environmental standards.
o Ensure peer reviews are conducted
o Ensure appropriate SHE Maturity assessment tools are in place
o Ensure the organisation complies with occupational health requirements
o Drive a culture of safety awareness
o Manage the employee wellbeing programme
