HEAD CONTRACTS (LEGAL), WITBANK, RNEG (D LOWER)

LLM DEGREE + ADMITTED ATTORNEY + 7 YEARS EXP IN MINING & COMMERCIAL COMPANIES LAW APPLICABLE TO MINING & STEEL INDUSTRIES + MUST HAVE EXPOSURE & EXPERIENCE IN DRAFTING, VETTING AND MANAGEMENTOF ALL CORPORATE & COMMERCIAL CONTRACT AND LEGAL ACTIONS WITHIN MANUFACTURING / MINING ENVIRONEMENT.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To manage the Contracts department in the Corporate and Legal Services division and to attend to
all other legal matters of Health and Safety, Mining Law, Environmental Law, Corporate and associated law in the division as required.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
•?Provide legal advice and assistance with the drafting, vetting and management of all corporate and commercial contracts and associated legal action that may arise there from.
•?Provide ancillary legal advice and assistance with regards to:-
??Health and Safety Law,
??Occupational Health and Safety,
??Mine Health and Safety,
??Minerals Acts,
??Environmental Law, Mining Law and Companies Law,
??Corporate governance and compliance; and
??Other applicable areas of commercial law and law applicable to the mining and steel
industries as when required.
•?Legal update of legal register and amendments to relevant legislation.
•?All matters regarding preparation and attendance of all Board and Management meetings
including minute taking if and when required.
•?General legal advice and assistance - an ‘all rounder’.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
•?Drafting, vetting and management of all corporate agreements skills.
•?Knowledge of Litigation / Arbitration.
•?Knowledge of various applicable legislations such as Health and Safety Law and Occupational
Health and Safety.
•?Knowledge of various applicable legislations such as Mine Health and Safety and the Minerals Act; Environmental Law, Mining Law, Companies Law, including corporate governance and compliance, other applicable areas of commercial law and law applicable to the mining and steel industries.
•?Computer literate – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
•?Written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
•?Administrative and managerial skills.
•?Must have an ability to attend to details.
EXPERIENCE
•?At least 7 years.

QUALIFICATIONS
•?Relevant tertiary legal qualification will be required.
•?Admitted Attorney.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
•?LLM in Commercially specialised field.

TRAINING
•?Additional qualifications in the drafting, vetting and management of contracts.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
•?Must be in possession of driver’s licence. (Must have own car)

REPORTING STRUCTURE
•?This position is directly responsible to the COMPANY SECRETARY.
