An investment management group seeks a Head: Data Management & Pricing is to collaborate with key business process owners and IT functions in order to ensure that the data needed by stakeholders meets required outcomes, is timeous, accurate, and efficiently delivered and maintained.

Key Outputs:

• Ownership of the end-to-end instrument creation process to deliver timeous and accurate creation of instrument static data on all applicable systems
• Work closely with key business process owners and business process management to ensure that all key business processes have accurate and timely data available
• Liaising with fund managers to ensure timely availability of new instruments for trading
• Monitor the effectiveness (efficiency, reliability and accuracy) of data source vendors and maintaining and managing the SLA/relationship with them
• Manage data distribution requirements in conjunction with information technology
• Daily pricing of all unit trusts under management
• Execution of all periodic tasks associated with unit trust pricing
• Daily valuation of instruments on the investment administration system in accordance with the valuation policy
• Own the design and implementation of end of process optimisation to achieve business outcomes
• Liaise with IT for enhancements to systems that will assist in simplifying and automating processes
• Communicate the requirements of Pricing, Data management and Valuations effectively to partners, management and employees
• Cost-effective data management
• Assist pro-actively with financial forecasts
• Produce unit trust prices within industry deadlines
• Complete day end valuations process in time to facilitate earlier day end processes
• Provide an efficient and informative mentoring / coaching function and development of staff
• Compile succession/retention plans for key positions/skills

Key Requirements:
• Relevant Degree/Honours Degree
• 10 years relevant experience
• Develop and Implementing Standardised Policies and Procedures
• Efficiency Improvement, Process Design and Implementation
• Knowledge of ASISA requirements
• Knowledge of FSB regulations
• Proven management and leadership skills including designing business controls, measuring performance and ensuring accountability
• Investment Administration systems knowledge
• Complete understanding of the trade cycle (all instruments) and the impact of errors on unit pricing
• Knowledge of the South African unit trust industry
• Knowledge of investment securities/instruments
