A leading South African pharmaceutical manufacturer, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange has a challenging opportunity available as the Head of Sales for Prescriptions. The Company manufactures, markets and distributes a wide range of healthcare products and they are a leading supplier to both the private and public sectors of the market.

POSITION  : Head of Sales: Prescription

AREA          : JHB Northern Suburbs

SALARY      : MARKET RELATED!!

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Manage Prescription Pharmacy Sales and Key Account teams, to ensure that they deliver short and long term growth and profitability to this category aligned to the company Vision and Stakeholder objectives.  Also, to manage The Africa expansion and Tender business growth plans.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant science degree ( Business/commercial related will be an advantage)
  • MBA, will be an added advantage.
  • 5 – 7 years Management level experience in Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in strategy development, Sales and Marketing, people management, customer management, is essential.
  • Negotiation and influencing expertise.
  • Network / Liaison Skills, and Presentation skills.
  • Computer Literacy – Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle or related ERP systems

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management and control of expenditure against budget
  • Development of an Investment Strategy to deliver on the budgeted volumes
  • Ensuring that daily operations of the business are effectively and efficiently co-ordinated, implemented and conducted within the framework agreed to in the Business Sales Plans.
  • Recommend yearly budget to the Business for approval and prudently manages organisation’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
  • Monitor business sales and expenditure in the budget on a monthly basis, follow up on any discrepancies, and take the necessary action(s) and evaluate on an on-going basis.
  • Compilation of budget, forecasts and 5 year strategic business plan
  • Implementation of sound financial and ethical practices.
  • Develop and maintain effective strategic relationship with key accounts so as to introduce products to Corporate & Independent pharmacies, State and Private Hospitals as well as Government Health departments.
  • Ensure that Adcock Ingram’s Brands becomes the preferred supplier to all.
  • Conduct ALL interactions in line with business values and code of ethics.
  • Manage the Sales & Key account teams and liaise between the teams to develop understanding and agreement of the Strategy through regular meetings to discuss team objectives and create an environment of cooperation and willingness.
  • Responsible for the management of training and development of staff through job / formal training, via internal/outsourced means, and ensuring that staff are competent to perform tasks.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff and follow up on activities and provide feedback on performance.
  • Ensure that resources (i.e. human resource, financial, physical, technological and information) are effectively deployed to meet strategic business and customer needs.
  • Identifies and acquires resources needed to implement strategy.
  • Monitor division performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made and corrective action – if necessary – is taken.
  • To forge a strong Collaboration with Head of Commercial for the sustainability of the business.
