The role reports to the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Finance Director and will be part of EXCO.
Qualification:
Relevant Degree in Human Resources / Industrial Psychology
(Experience overrides qualification – up to 8 years’ experience working as an HR Manager in a similar environment)
Skills & Experience:
Very strong proven track record and experience with industrial relations – managing unions extremely important and a big part of the job
Skills development a major growth area for the business and has been lacking, so looking for an individual keen to take this on
Solid knowledge of VIP Payroll system, ability to work within a complicated structure – 750 people on payroll – 5 different payrolls
Demonstrable, successful and proven experience working in a factory environment - office is on the factory floor amongst factory staff
Important that individual is strong with ownership and managing relationships internally as well as externally
Management experience – will be managing a Payroll team of approximately 10 people.
Success in creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention and reward programs
Key strengths such as flexibility, fantastic communication skills and great amounts of drive essential
Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment
Sound judgement and ability to problem solve
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
Commercial experience will be beneficial but not a deal breaker
Job Description:
Manage the Human Resources operation and provide overall direction and guidance to assigned staff including direct supervision, leadership, coaching, training, and development.
A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the “pulse” of the employees to ensure a high level of engagement is required.
To succeed in this position, the candidate must be flexible with natural ability to multi-task and time manage effectively.
The appointee will be responsible for 450 factory staff.
