Requirements:

• Proven senior HR experience within large commercially focused organisation
• Fluent in English and degree qualified, ideally with a post-graduate qualification in HR.
• Sound experience of managing people, leading HR teams and budgetary responsibility and control.
• Strategic decision-making ability and excellent influencing skills.
• Advanced working knowledge of South Africa Employment Law and ideally that of other Africa countries to include working conditions, disciplinary and grievance procedures, equal opportunities, redundancies, paternity and maternity rights.
• Excellent understanding of the value of quality HR administration, systems and processes.
• Track record of providing recommendations to the business for improvement in terms of operational HR, challenging the prevailing view where appropriate.
• Sophisticated organisational and planning skills.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to build relationships.
• Displays personal and commercial maturity, and resilience when required.
• Adopts an open style and is willing to discuss issues where appropriate.
• Possesses a flexible approach with the ability to instigate change.
• Deadline focused with a passion for quality and accuracy.
• Shows a good understanding of commercial requirements and business acumen.

Duties & responsibilities:

• Delivery of the HR Operational Strategy and best practice.
• Review HR operational policies and procedures to ensure best practice. Work with colleagues to develop best practice standard policies and procedures.
• Trusted as the first port of call and owner policies and procedures.
• Provide senior resource as appropriate on complex employee relations issues being managed by the HR team.
• Adopting sound risk management practices, you will ensure that the authorisation process for the dismissal of an employee is actioned in line with current procedures and relevant employment law.
• Manage employment disputes, industrial relations and legal claims in partnership with business leaders, ensuring directors are updated on progress and aware of any issues as they arise.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and reporting
• Oversee BBBEE compliance
• Timely and efficient delivery of all relevant reward and benefit programmes.
• Effective handling of the of the salary and performance review process, operating within budget and in accordance with company guidance and policies.
• Partnering with the business you will ensure high professional standards of recruitment.
• You will assist people managers in resource planning activities and aim to enhance recruitment processes, from advertisement, through to interview, to on-boarding.
• Providing learning and development consultancy to people managers and to employees as required.
• Progressing the creation and adoption of training and development plans in line with business needs and statutory requirements.
• You will assist in the promotion of compliant diversity and inclusion practices throughout our Africa business network.
• Monitoring data to identify trends and taking appropriate action to raise senior management awareness of diversity and inclusion issues.
• Contributing your expertise and management skills to HR Projects as required.
• Proactively identifying areas where action is required to better support the business.
• Ensuring that the HR Operational Advisory team and Business Partners are providing a first class service to the Africa business.
• Championing the use of best practice and leading edge HR practices within the HR team. Ensure that a consistent and compliant approach (within the relevant legal frameworks) is taken within Africa locations.
• Supporting initiatives and policies of the HR Centres of Excellence.
