IT engineer

Our client, in the short term/medical insurance industry, is looking for an IT engineer/ IT manager to join their team

Roles / Responsibilities

•Attend to end user related queries and problems within allocated time, based on nature of problem
•Suggest upgrades, implementation and or integration solutions and follow through with approved course of action
•Assist with end user requirements and resources
•Ensure minimal downtime outside scheduled maintenance
•Monitor and maintain all IT services to minimise critical business outages
•Basic configuration of firewalls and security appliances
•Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources
•Support the production environment, upgrade, security, disaster recovery, backups, etc.
•Ensure that communication channels are established with all service providers and users at a technical level
•Ensure that feedback is given to both management and clients
•Ensure that adequate testing has taken place before implementing new systems or changes to existing systems
•Setup and configure Disaster Recovery
•Ensure that periodic tests are executed with regards to Disaster Recovery
•Ensure that failover procedures are documented and kept up to date
•Ensure that all IT processes are documented
•Set-up and maintain systems
•After hours standby on rotation with Junior technician
•Asset and License management
•Procurement, Asset and Supplier Relationship Management
•Work with outsourced vendors and 3rd party suppliers to ensure
•Manage the integration of new clients into the current network.
•Manage the support and maintenance of the WAN and LAN infrastructure of the current network.
•Responsible for the network security
•Follow proper procurement procedures and controls
•Deploy and manage all IT policies.

Requirements:
•Matric
•Microsoft Certified System Engineer qualification essential
•Extensive Windows server experience
•Windows XP/7/8 experience
•Mac OS experience

The successful candidate must be punctual, reliable, meticulous and security conscious
He/She must have excellent communication skills and excellent troubleshooting and researching skills
The candidate must be able to work independently and in a team
He/she must be able to make decisions on site (within parameters)
He/she must have their own reliable transport with valid driver's licence
