PBT Group has a requirement for a Project Manager to provide Project Management expertise to the Technology team on proposals, solutions, pricing, contracts, resourcing and project mapping (planning). This involves being responsible with inputs from the team for the full management of the technology projects within the SDLC (systems development life cycle) which includes defining the project scope, developing and maintaining a detailed project plan, managing project deliverables within the project plan, resolving cross-functional issues at project level, and then evaluating the effectiveness of the project against the desired measurables.

KPA’s:
1. Planning & Defining Scope
  • Define project scope.
  • Provide PM expertise on proposals, solutions, architectures, pricing, contracts, resourcing, timing and strategic alliances, procurement (limited exposure with senior guidance).
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan and act as a gateway through which work should be assigned to appropriate teams.
2. Project Monitoring and Control (Project Tracking)
  • Monitor project progress and performance to manage project deliverables in line with the project plan.
  • Manage vendor (third party) inputs within the defined budget.
  • Manage stakeholders and resources assigned to the project and assure that the assigned resources adhere to meeting deadlines and incorporating quality.
  • Schedule tracking.
3. Project Issues and Actions Tracking
  • Communication to relevant stakeholders and raise awareness.
  • Record and manage project issues and escalating where necessary. (Resolve cross-functional issues at project level).
  • Manage project scope and change control and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Issues and Actions Log Handover Sign-off.
  • Resolve cross-functional issues at project level.
4. Project Performance and Reporting
  • Liaise with and provide status updates and project progress reports to the relevant stakeholders at the relevant time being, the project Sponsor or external stakeholders in accordance with the project communications plan.
  • Draft and circulate project status meeting minutes.
  • Update Project Steerco Scorecard with latest status.
  • Review assigned resources’ deliverables and assure that quality is incorporated in the process with planned reviews and sign-offs.
5. Customer
  • Relationship Management (Customer Service Delivery) AND Personal Effectiveness
  • Managing co-ordination of partners and working groups engaged in the project (less exposure) and providing professional service
  • 360-degree assessment
  • Customer surveys (companywide)
  • Coaching of staff on PM principles
  • Creating PM knowledge repositories
  • PDP achievement
6. Project Handover and Closure
  • Manage the project evaluation and dissemination activities.
  • Provide Project Handover.
  • Provide Post Mortem Review (lessons learnt).

Skills required
  • National Diploma in Information Technology or related NQF 6 qualification – with a major in project management preferably PLUS minimum of a PMP or related certificate
  • Prince 2 Practitioner and/or PMBOK certificate (for Senior PM)
  • Minimum of 3 years PM experience (preferably in the insurance or financial services industries)
  • Strong project management skills as well as experience in PM methodologies
  • Financial Services / Insurance Industry knowledge preferably with similar systems/ products
  • Knowledge of financial services products in - life, short term, investment, unit trust, health care, retirement areas
  • Short term insurance understanding an advantage (for future scope of the business).
  • Project management and implementation skills in order to ensure the effective planning, initiating and implementation of appropriate technologies within predetermined time scales and budgets.
  • Facilitation skills to elicit inputs from stakeholders while liaising with the Technology team, clients and development partners regarding project elements and requirements.
  • Solid relationship building skills (with relevant internal and external stakeholders)
  • Oral and written communication skills to be able to liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Minimum of Level 2 MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook) and at least Project Management 1 and Visio 1
  • Prince 2 Practitioner / PMBOK certification (Senior PM)
  • Solid working knowledge and experience of the Microsoft .Net framework and development environment (IDE)
  • Experience in managing webs development and integration projects
  • Experience in managing a number of projects at one time (of sizable project value)
  • System and data modelling using UML notation experience an advantage
  • UML modelling a strong added advantage
  • Working knowledge of Acord an added advantage
  • Some travelling might be required (limited)
  • Must have own vehicle and valid license
  • Must have a clear credit and criminal record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • B Sc/B Com Information Systems or equivalent degree at NQF 6/7.
  • Prince 2 Practitioner and/or PMBOK certificate (for Junior PM)
  • Business Analysis methodology (advantage)
  • FAIS certification (Short Term) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years PM experience
  • Insurance/financial services industries with major industry related projects involve multiple stakeholders (internal AND external)
  • Experience in managing web development and integration projects.
  • Experience in managing a number of projects at one time (of sizable project value)
  • Solid working knowledge and experience of Microsoft.Net framework and development environment (IDE).
  • System and data modelling using UML notation experience
  • Working knowledge of Acord
  • Knowledge of company supported hardware, software and operating systems (including configuration and connectivity)
  • Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocols
  • At least level 3 MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook) and at least Project Management 2 and Visio 2
  • Prince 2 Practitioner / PMBOK certification (Junior PM)
  • Acord model certification (all PMs)
