Job Description: CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB



Oversees IT Operations in Gauteng, Planning support functions, taking corrective action, Implementing improvements



KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS




  • Support of in-house software, hardware and operating systems

  • Management and Training of IT technicians

  • Implementation of new technologies and IT concepts.

  • Support MS Office and all common office applications and utilities

  • Remote and mobile user support.

  • Support all varieties of Windows (incl. server) and Linux operating systems

  • Support peripherals (printers, scanners, plotters, etc.)

  • Support common CAD and other engineering applications (installation, configuration, advice, etc.) to ensure optimal usage

  • Ad hoc training of users on Windows application / CAD

  • Network and service monitoring

  • Support company IT infrastructure to ensure minimum downtime

  • Liaise with internal users and external suppliers to provide optimal service



JOB REQUIREMENTS 



QUALIFICATIONS



BSc (Comp Sci) or Bsc(Eng) or NDip (Engineering Computer Systems) / NDip (IT Support Services), or related qualification



Matric with Maths and English



EXPERIENCE:




  • At least 10 years relevant experience since qualification

  • Experience in managing IT Technicians



CORE COMPETENCIES 




  • Self-learner with ability to keep up to date with emerging IT technologies

  • Expert level knowledge of MS Office and all common office applications and utilities

  • General knowledge of IT software and hardware

  • Knowledge of Windows workstation and server operating systems

  • Excellent knowledge of Linux

  • Knowledge of server technologies: in particular tcp/ip, samba, smtp, imap, groupware, ldap

  • Dedicated to providing excellent service, engaging with users, understanding problems and pro-actively seeking solutions.
