Our client requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven candidate to take up the role of a IT Support Specialist.

Purpose of the role:

Implement the Global and Regional IT Services as per the Regional and Area initiatives to sustain a profitable business


Role Description:

Effective deployments of company compliant infrastructure,
Integrate, test and develop customs / requirements based on statutory requests / changes
Maintaining Service Quality and availability; Applications, office automation and communications infrastructure uptime is monitored in line with established SLAs and OLA’s
Ensuring Business Continuity via appropriate topologies, archive and recovery strategies
Institutionalize continuous quality improvement via ongoing Root Cause Analysis and Eradication. Have full awareness and be Point of escalation in service failure situations. Proactive management and stakeholder communication of incidents
Monitor and scale capacity – up and down, ahead of demand (Hardware and Communications infrastructure). Ensure hardware refresh policy is optimized for maximum cost effectiveness
Cost Reduction; Implement Costs Effectiveness Programmes. Generate cost reduction initiatives
Management via globally agreed KPI’s; report in line with standard reporting requirements
Maintain existing databases and php scripts ,
Internal and external vendor and customer relationship management, including local government, industry, trade and standards bodies


Key responsibilities:

Effective deployments, early benefits realisation by ensuring plans reflect optimized time-to-market
Maximized Exploitation of existing and new Features and Functions within core applications
Developing realistic achievable and price conformant Service and Operational Service Level Agreements with business stakeholders, ensure back-to-back compatibility with dependent service providers
Maintaining Service Quality and availability; Applications, office automation and communications infrastructure uptime is monitored in line with established
SLA’s and OLA’s

Lead or participate in global/regional initiatives as part of a virtual IT function
Decommission non-performing IS assets; Converging local applications
Compliance to regional standards including First Choice,
Server / Database administration. Desktop services
Managing outsourcing opportunities and ongoing vendor relationships
Help Desk and Service Tickets management, including ticket reduction via root cause analysis and eradication
Enforce IT Security Policies through training, management communications user and country IT audits

Required Minimum Education/Training:

Matric or equivalent
IT qualification
Customs experience / qualification

Required Minimum Work Experience:

Proven experience in ITIL
Excellent
oral and written communication skills (English)
3-5 years Experience in IS requirement, development, testing, deployment and support cycles with a recognized methodology
3-5 years experience in Programmes and Project management
3-5 years of working experience of PHP, SQL, XML, with emphasis on middle-tier PHP development
Strong SQL syntax skills
Database administration experience with MS-SQL (2000+) and My-SQL would be beneficial (Informix a bonus)
