IT Technical Specialist

Location: Bryanston, JHB
Salary: R30k – R40k per month

Requirements:
6-8 years post qualification experience
Degree or Diploma in IT
Microsoft/Cisco certifications are essential
Linux certifications are advantageous.
Proficient in Microsoft Server technology including Active Directory domain, Exchange, and application servers.
Excellent Knowledge of LAN / WAN, VPN technologies.
Sound knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP, TCP/IP, Email authentication methods.
Hands on experience on SAN / NAS.
Sound knowledge of Virtualisation technology is required.
Experience on backup and restore, Disaster recovery Procedures is essential.
Experience in layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, Routers, and Firewalls is essential.
Experience in remote connectivity, VPN and routing. Experience in Audio, Video and Data networks. Experience in PABX, VOIP technologies.
Knowledge of end point, datacenter and network security.
Enterprise antivirus, WSUS, Web Server & SQL servers.
Knowledge of Linux is essential.
Experience in redundancy and High availability infrastructure architecture.
Strong PC and Server hardware knowledge.

Duties:
Ensure day to day monitoring and performance of infrastructure components including servers, network, storage and other infrastructure components.
To ensure capacity and performance planning is maintained.
To establish, negotiate and manage relationships and monitor SLA's with service providers.
Ensure 100% uptime of the infrastructure.
Ensure regular testing of Disaster Recovery readiness.
Ensure proactive preventive maintenance of Data center, servers, network components and other infrastructure components.
Manage physical security systems at offices.
Ensure Software licenses records are kept up to date and are used optimally.
Prepare medium term implementation plan in association with long term technology plan to ensure un-interrupted migration and implementation of new systems.
Continuous upgrade of applications, operating systems and other components to ensure compliance.
Ensure all firmware are kept up to date as per hardware vendor recommendation.
Plan and manage hardware replacement lifecycle.
Ensure encryption and security of mobile devices.
Manage and Support Active Directory infrastructure.
Manage and support all email services.
Manage and support remote access security and firewall management.
Manage and support Database Servers.
Manage Cisco Switches, VoIP telephony and Video Conferencing systems.
Manage and support Storage Area Network (SAN) Manage and Support Virtual and physical Infrastructure for Servers and Desktops.
Manage and Support redundancy and Disaster Recovery systems.
Ensure monitoring and management of generator systems, UPS and alternate power systems.
Ensure procedure documents and training material is up to date. Ensuring adequate training and abilities of team members.
Implementing new hardware, infrastructure components and technologies.
