Qualification:
A minimum of 2 years relevant IT experience
Experience in the life insurance industry, especially Metropolitan Life,
would be an advantage
Relational Database theoretical knowledge and practical experience (DB2
would be an advantage)
Understanding and knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle
(SDLC). Agile experience will be an advantage. Understand how to build,
package and deploy a release.
Understanding of UML will be an advantage.
Strong understanding and knowledge of J2EE/JEE especially EJB, Design
Patterns, XML, XSD schema, SOAP Web Services, Eclipse RCP, SWT, JFace
Ubuntu, JPA, Ant, Security patterns and best practises.
Must have knowledge of Application Servers, e.g. IBM WebSphere
Working knowledge of Eclipse, IBM RAD.

Job Description:
Design and Development of optimal systems according to agreed
specifications, architecture and defined standards
Integration of heterogeneous systems
Operational troubleshooting and problem solving
Maintenance and enhancements to existing systems
Assisting with the design of test plans. Preparation of a system test
environment and conducting unit testing
Providing technical assistance to other Developers
To provide quality assurance from standards and procedures
Documentation of analysis, design and development
Research work i.e. keeping up to date with the latest technology trends
