Junior Legal Counsel
Location: Woodmead, South Africa
Salary: R 300 000 to R 360 000 p.a

Our client in the Construction and Engineering industry is looking for a Finance Administration Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provision of general legal advice, drafting and vetting of contracts.
• Assess and advise on the potential impact of contracts the company is involved with i.e. Joint Venture / Consortium agreements, sub consultancy and subcontractor agreements, service agreements, lease agreements, contracts between clients and contractors administered by the Company, etc
• Ensure that RHDHV’s legal risks in contracts are minimized.
• Review of contract terms and conditions to ensure that they comply with legislation and company policies.
• Drafting, analyses and negotiating contracts. A general understanding of the standard construction contracts will be advantageous eg. Fidic, Procsa, NEC, CESA etc.
• Assist internal teams in interpretation of contract terms and conditions and assist in the review of internal contract templates and associated administrative roll out processes.
• A good understanding of the South African Court System and litigation process. Eg. Bad debt collection.
• Provide litigation support with the representing attorneys to ensure that the Company is represented correctly and professionally.
• Assist with legal research as and when required and monthly reporting as required
• A good understanding of The Companies Act 2008 as well as King III and IV.
• Company Compliance and Company Secretary administrative knowledge is advantageous.
• Assist the Regional Legal Counsel in legal training and awareness of various teams within the African entity.

Requirements

• B degree in Law (LLB)
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court / Advocate is a prerequisite.
• 1-2 years post Admission required.
• Good understanding of Contract law and corporate governance and excellent proficiency in the English Language.
• Strong drafting skills with excellent attention to detail and risk awareness.
• Clear knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process in South Africa.
• Knowledge of Supply Chain Management and procurement rules of government sector clients in SA and current legislation in the built environment would be an advantage
