International water treatment company with great career prospects for the deserving candidate requires a junior mechanical engineer/technologist.

NOTE: ND (NATIONAL DIPLOMA) APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

BSc (Mechanical Engineering) / B Eng. (Mechanical), B Tech (Mechanical) with 2 years minimum experience in engineering field.
1 year minimum experience in mechanical engineering and design.
Knowledge in plant and equipment design / fabrication / testing / installation / commissioning

Responsible for the engineering of all mechanical equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units on assigned projects.
Responsible for preparation of project related documents and engineering notes in conjunction with the Process Department.
Ensure that engineering activities on assigned projects are executed within budgeted man hours and approved schedules in compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of South Africa.
Manage project schedules with the Project Engineer(s) to ensure all dates, rates of progress and engineering periods are met.
Work to project specific standards and job notes.
Support work for RFQ notes and requirements
Initiate and support vendor documentation and general notes. Support Process Engineers in technical vendor bid analysis and evaluation reports for general mechanical equipment.
Support the advancement of MFD & PID diagrams for construction for depicting of rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units, operating and design conditions and piping and instrumentation connections. Support the preparation of equipment schedules and datasheets.
Attend coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with vendors of general equipment as required.
Review document requirements with vendors and assist Procurement
Department in compiling Vendor Document Requirement forms
Review and approve vendor documents for general mechanical equipment.
Perform mechanical inspection and witness factory acceptance testing where required.
Advise the Mechanical Engineer of any slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action.
Advise the Mechanical Engineer of any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups.
Notify the Project Engineer of all deficiencies in the flow of data or other basic information required for execution of work.
Provide progress report information, at the required frequency and with the required content, to the Project Engineer.
Keep abreast of development in the rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units engineering field.
Suggest ways to improve efficiency, costs and service in the execution of design for projects.
Assist where necessary in the compilation of operating manuals and mechanical catalogues.
Assist in the training and knowledge transfer of rotating equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units expertise to Draughtsman and Engineers as required.
Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Perform site inspection and witness site installation and acceptance testing where required. Ensure that mechanical equipment, handling and packaged units engineering operations are ready for hand-over to client and complete in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of South Africa and project standards.
