Laboratory Technician
Main purpose of the job:
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the processing of specimen samples, specimen storage, maintenance of specimen fridge / freezer temperature loggers and logs, shipment of specimens to various laboratories and the administration process pertaining to the laboratory

Location:
Albert Luthuli Hospital - Durban

Key performance areas:
Perform Rapid HIV / Urinalysis / Pregnancy test in accordance with Unit SOP and GCLP
Process specimens as per protocol specification and the storage thereof
Maintenance of specimen harvest logs for PK samples
Shipment of specimens to the various labs
Maintenance of the Fridge and Freezer temperatures and the log thereof
Perform quality checks on all Lab Worksheets
Calibration of all lab equipment
Stock Management within the lab
Liaise with Contract Lab Services
Weekly reporting on patient stats and sample storage
All administration related to the laboratory.

Required minimum education and training:
Qualified as a Lab Technician

Professional body registration:
HPCSA

Required minimum work experience:
2 Yrs. laboratory experience in a Clinical Trial Environment
