Our client in the automotive component manufacturing industry is looking to employ a Layout Technician in East London with basic measuring experience and product knowledge

Salary R87.26 per hour.  40 hour week.  3 shift pattern. Overtime when necessary

 Minimum requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent NQF Level
  • 2. 2 to 3 years relevant experience
  • 3. Knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM Metrolog XG)
  • 4. Knowledge of calibration process
  • 5. Knowledge of SPC, Cm, Cmk, Pp PpPk, Cp CPk
  • 6. Good interpretation of CAD/CATIA data model.
  • 7. Knowledge of quality management systems
  • 8. Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • 9. Computer Literacy including MS Excel, Word & Access
  • 10. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • 11. Ability to understand test specifications
  • 12. Test laboratory experience would be advantageous
  • 13. Understand reading of drawings

 

Duties:

 

  • Implement and maintain calibration systems that measure characteristics of components including length, time, mass, temperature etc.
  • 2. Adjust measurement capability to minimize errors
  • 3. Implement and maintain calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement
  • 4. Advise others on methods of resolving measurement problems
  • 5. Identify magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to define reliability of measurement process
  • 6. Redesign or readjust measurement capability to minimize errors
  • 7. SPC/Capabilities studies
  • 8. Calibration of testing equipment
  • 9. Stopping manufacturing process when a failure is detected during testing
  • 10. Report any measurement problems to management
