Formal qualifications:

Required: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or similar relevant technical discipline
Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or similar relevant technical discipline.
Role-specific knowledge:

Demonstrated extensive experience in a senior position in process safety management industry.
Expertise and proven track record developing Process Safety Management programs including undertaking Process Hazard Analysis such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, etc.
Expertise in fire and safety engineering standards such as NFPA, API, SANS, ANSI, ATEX, etc.
Demonstrated expertise in applying root cause analysis in process safety event investigations.
Track record leading ideas generation, translation of these into practical initiatives with demonstrated success in Process Safety Management in a global / regional context.
Track record of acting as a company-wide coach, advisor and mentor in a technical discipline with change management expertise.
Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role within a technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing within a sub-discipline, managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirements.
Any other requirements to perform the work effectively?

Required: ability to communicate in English (advanced level for verbal and written).
Desirable: additional languages are advantageous.
International travel is required.
Working at high altitude may be required.
Regularly working on Pinetown, Clover SA operations will be required. This may involve activities of a physical nature in a typical corporate environment.
Ability to balance strategic thought with delivery of tangible business outcomes.
Timely, pragmatic and effective decision making drawing on limited inputs and sometimes incomplete information.
