JOB PURPOSE:
To provide legal expertise and guidance as well as assist in any way possible in any legal related matters.
1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1.1 Matric (Grade 12).
1.2 LLB Degree.
1.3 Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in dealing with criminal law, law of contract and labour law.
1.4 Admitted as an advocate or attorney.
2. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional outputs and activities will include, but are not limited to:
2.1 Criminal Cases:
2.1.1 Provide legal expertise and guidance in procedural handling of matters.
2.1.2 Assist prosecutors’ in general criminal prosecutions where the company has an interest in the matter.
2.1.3 Provide general advice and direction to less experienced investigators and /or colleagues.
2.1.4 Perform legal functions regarding progress of criminal matters via the NPA, SAPS and other types of cases
2.1.5 Communicate information on court case status to all relevant parties.
2.2 Court Outcomes:
2.2.1 Process court outcome reports that are received from Key Accounts.
2.2.2 Assist in editing the outcomes according to organisational standards.
2.2.3 File the court outcomes to ensure quick and easy accessibility.
2.2.4 Handle all applicable queries / discrepancies with the applicable branch when necessary.
2.3 Compliance:
2.3.1 Process the daily updates received via various service providers to keep up to date with legislation.
2.3.2 Study all updates / newsletters intensively & ensure that it is understood fully.
2.3.3 Send the relevant updates to the relevant employees / departments in order to keep everyone updated on new and upcoming changes to the Law.
2.4 Reports:
2.4.1 Process reports that are received from the company’s departments and Clients.
2.4.2 Any ad hoc reports requested from time to time.
4.3. General:
4.3.1. Assist in disciplinary matters:
4.3.1.1. Represent the Company or assist when required in disciplinary / CCMA matters
4.3.1.2. Advise or assist when required in any matters arising with regards to the labour law.
4.3.2. Assist personnel in any way possible regarding legal matters as requested from time to time regarding legal opinions and documents.
4.3.3. Attend meetings and represent the Company when required.
4.3.4. Provide training, legal instruction and research assistance to less experienced colleagues.
4.3.5. Do research on certain fields or topics which could include case studies, Laws and legal opinions on behalf of the company.
4.3.6. Utilize the online intelligence system if and when needed.
