Legal Counsel, Roodepoort (R1.3m - R1.4m per annum) - Ref: 1026839-42

This global engineering company is looking for an Admitted Attorney with strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to understand complex legal concepts as well as the analysis and translation of those to non-lawyers to create practical processes and to provide guidance and training.

Job description / core competencies:
• The vetting and drafting of terms and conditions for high value capital equipment supply contracts.
• The drafting and vetting of legal contracts such as, but not limited to, production, commissioning agreements, engineering agreements, trade exchange agreements, sub contractors, standard trading terms and conditions and lease agreements.
• Reviewing and advising on contract conditions.
• Provision of legal support, advice and assistance in negotiations and draft agreements for the various business units of the organisation.
• Providing accurate advice on actions proposed and/or taken to ensure that all relevant actions are legal and potential legal risks to the business are highlighted and accounted for.
• To ensure the company’s risks are limited.
• Handling of any contractual dispute.
• Support and advise on labour issues, where required (CCMA, MEIBC).
• Investigating whistle blower cases.
• Instructing external legal counsel for court cases.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

BCom Degree in Law
Must be an Admitted Attorney
10 plus years of relevant experience in a similar role within a Commercial Department
Strong knowledge of law/ regulations/ compliance
Experience in drafting and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements and contracts
