The primary responsibility of the Systems Administrator is to provide support, monitoring and maintenance of Linux infrastructure, applications and servers for both internal and external stakeholders.

1. Linux platform client support
2. User administration
3. Linux system administration
4. Password and identity management
5. Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the infrastructure environment (Physical and Virtual)
6. Network Architecture Design and Implementation
7. Project Management
8. VOIP installation and support (Asterisk)
9. Feedback to Customers
10. Research & Development
11. Install, configure and maintain Linux servers and services such as Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Network Print Queues, and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
12. Install, configure and maintain wireless networks (Ubiquity, MikroTik)
13. Create and modify configuration and other scripts (Bash/Python/PHP)
14. Coordinate and execute repair activities.
15. Setup and maintain backup protocols for all Infrastructure and Clients
16. Perform periodic performance testing
17. Manage stakeholder relationships and maintenance needs (e.g. certificates).
18. Documentation in form of internal wiki

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent certificate essential; Post Graduate qualification preferable.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Linux system administrator
• Relevant qualification (A +, N+, MCTS, LINUX + / LPIC 1 & 2)
• CCNA and Security + advantageous

 
Skills Required

• Excellent networking implementation and troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP)
• Strong communication skills (Verbal and Written)
• Excellent understanding of VOIP systems
• Excellent understanding of IMAP and postfix
• Apache Web server and PHP installation, maintenance, and administration, and database systems (Postgresql, MySQL).
