Picturesque Self Catering Fishing Lodge - Mpumalanga

An experienced General Manager is needed for a fishing and game reserve situated in the heart of Mpumalanga

with a minimum 5-year experience in a similar position.

Ensure Growth in Turnover & Positive Cash flow and that that turnover growth exceeds inflation.

Must be guest focused. The resort is visited mainly by local guests.

Strong business sense. Target driven & resilient.

Self-motivated. Team Leader and Team Player

Ability to work under pressure Strong managerial, communication & negotiation skills.

Implement our policies and procedures to all staff on the reserve.

Implement adequate controls in an attempt to elevate the lodge to the RCI Gold Crown rating.

Ensure positive balances of your lodge’s accounts and be in line with budgets set.

Implement specific project plans on refurbishments, operational programs and general improvements.

Ensure that all projects have a proper plan with costing.

Ensure all financial regulations and standards are adhered to, including budgets and internal policies and procedures.

Source new and/or direct suppliers.

Promote personal support of employees by being fully involved and visible in operations. Ensure presence is visible on the floors at all busy times

Ensure that the lodge is optimally staffed at all times

Conduct performance appraisals as prescribed.

Disciplinary Procedures & Industrial Relations.

Adhere to the company’s disciplinary and grievance procedure and ensure documentation.

Ensure all Staff are utilized in the best manner.

Staff rosters must be clearly visible and controlled and issued on a weekly basis.

Ensure that all staff are trained and supported.

To plan ahead for recruitment, training, motivation and replacement requirements.

Valid driver’s license and own transport

Provide feedback on resort meetings every month – meetings minuted for feedback.

Ensure that all relevant personnel records e.g. Leave applications, contracts, disciplinary documentation

and payroll documentation are forwarded to the Head Office on a daily/weekly basis.

Manage the Payroll processing documents.

Solid knowledge of computer programs like Microsoft Excel (Advanced), Word and Outlook

Educational Requirements:

Sound experience of the full lodge operation

Knowledge of housekeeping, front office, maintenance
