Tourism Attraction is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join their team in Waterfront, Cape Town. The position of the Maintenance and Technical Assistant will perform semi-skilled planned and preventative maintenance assistance relating to installations, repairs, upkeep and maintenance of the operations of the company facilities.
Responsibilities will include maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and component replacements to the operational machinery and equipment.
The Maintenance Assistant will be required to work shifts and be prepared to work overtime as and when it is expected of them. The shifts will be either a morning shift of 08:00 to 16:00 or evening shift of 15:00 to 00:00 (midnight) including weekends and public holidays as per determined rosters. The shifts and number of days work per week will vary from time to time and the Maintenance Assistant should be willing and able to adapt accordingly.
Minimum Requirements:
• Must have Grade 12
• Preferably a Tertiary Mechanical or Electrical Qualification
• Previous general electrical or mechanical maintenance working experience
• Working knowledge of tools and materials used in assigned areas (electrical / mechanical)
• Willing and flexible to work extended hours and / or outside of normal working hours if necessary in varying conditions
• Must be fluent in English with good communication skills
• Must have a mechanical / electrical technical aptitude
• Self-motivated with the willingness to learn quickly
• Be able to work under pressure in varying conditions
Skills and Behavioural Requirements:
• Electrical aptitude and understanding of mechanical principals
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and solve problems
• Ability to work under minimum supervision
• Problem solving skills
• Take pride in own standard of performance, be committed to professional ethical standards
• Ability to handle and control difficult situations
• Able to act quickly and calmly in an emergency
Salary: R12,000 CTC a month
