Our client in the La Mercy area is recruiting for Maintenance Technicians, to perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and upgrade equipment for improved performance in the cargo terminal

NTC 3 (trades related) (± 50% Electrical and 50% Mechanical) or similar.

Recognised Trade test (preference will be given to millwrights or electrician trades) with mechanical ability and experience

A minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a general maintenance environment.

Ability to drive a Forklift will be an advantage.

Implement operational asset productivity and care through the planned maintenance strategy by noting and raising maintenance issues with the Maintenance Manager;

• Maintain workshop appearance and image through housekeeping;

• Find faults and carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical and facilities equipment ensuring maximum up time of the equipment.

• Investigate route cause analysis of all failures reducing the risk of reoccurrences of failures and increasing machine reliability and up time;

• Conduct planned maintenance as per the planned maintenance matrix and sign off inspection sheets on completion of each task;

• All job cards to be compiled and signed off and submitted to the Maintenance Manager to maintain a record of jobs done;

• The Maintenance Technician will be required to carry out various maintenance tasks and repairs involving electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing and facility repairs ;

• Attend to all electrical and mechanical and facilities related breakdowns and minimize downtime;

• Maintain all electrical panels, ensure connections are tight and no hot spots are present so that panels are in optimal working condition;
• Determine if faults are electrical, mechanical or PLC related;
• Assist with PLC programming to correct faults;

• Conduct safety inspections;

• Upgrade equipment for improved performance.

• Carry out all reasonable requests required by the maintenance department

• The maintenance technician will be required to work shift based on operational requirements

• The maintenance technician will be required to work overtime for time to time when required due to operational requirements

• The maintenance technician will be required to work based on a standby roster due operational requirements and attend to callouts as and when required

• Execute assigned maintenance projects;

• Provide input to the Maintenance Manager on the feasibility of projects by analysing technology, resources needs and market demands to ensure that the project is feasible; and

• Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that the requirements of internal customers are met and to prepare accurate project specification for implementation of projects.

• Implement and comply with all health and safety procedures and requirements.

Complete a spares requisition once spares have been drawn from stores in order to have the buyer procure and replenish stock.

• Ensure the required stock levels are maintained
• Mentor, train and coordinate the functions of the Maintenance assistant.
