Our client in the La Mercy area is recruiting for a Maintenance Worker, to assist the greenhouse maintenance technician in the day to day activities around maintenance, adhering to the policies and procedures of company.


To assist the greenhouse maintenance technician in the day to day activities around maintenance, adhering to the policies and procedures of company.
• Replacing broken glass in all greenhouses.
• Assist in fixing structural problems as vents, doors, replacing pushrods.
• Aplication of lubricants to different equipment.
• Operating specialised equipment like scissor lift, reciprocating saws, impact driver, electric drills, grinders, etc.
• Daily checking of equipment and reporting of any defects found.
• General greenhouse maintenance.
• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on an on-going basis.
• Monitoring of pumps and mechanical equipment for damage and leakage.
• Assist in the fixing and replacing of irrigation pipes.
• Assist in stock control and related paperwork.
• The employee will perform any other duties allocated to him /her by the Employer from time to time.
• Report monthly, quarterly and annually on all Greenhouse Maintenance activities and progress

Grade 12 with technical ability/ aptitude for a trade is essential;

Must be able to work at heights;

Physically fit to perform duties related maintenance;

12 to 24 months’ experience in glass fitment and construction environment;

Knowledge of OHSA and other regulations relating to safety within the operational environment;

Experience with hand tools will be an added advantage;

Code EB/ 08 driver’s license;

Heavy motor vehicle license not a prerequisite but will be advantageous;

Sober habits;

Ability to work independently and in a team;

The employee may be required to work overtime, on week-ends and public holidays and be on standby and attend to call outs from time to time as an operational requirement;
