A large online marketing firm based in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg has a job opening for a Data Scientist/ Marketing Data Analyst to be responsible for extracting meaning from the data within their customer base and assisting in developing valuable marketing intelligence, decision support algorithms and optimizing interventions.

Your main job responsibilities as a Marketing Data Analyst in Johannesburg will include:

- Research, develop, predict and apply methods for measuring, analysing and optimizing our processes and marketing interventions
- Identify appropriate models/algorithms to mine large datasets and develop rich insights into customer behaviour
- Develop new algorithms and methods for solve critical business problems and optimizing business performance and revenue
- Perform analyses to understand and predict customer behaviour, risks, opportunities and trends
- Improve processes and data recording where opportunities arise
- Performing data studies and data recovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources
- Liaise with business users to obtain business requirements and provide an analysis for the requirements.

To be perfect for this Marketing Data Analyst job in Johannesburg, you will need the following:

- Degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics or similar.
- Understanding of statistics and mathematical modelling and the application of statistical sampling and analysis
- Practical ability to visualize data, communicate the data, and utilize it effectively in a marketing context
- High level of computer literacy (Advanced MS-Excel and SQL)
- Practical experience with data mining, building algorithms and predictive analytics
- Ability to distil problem definitions, models and constraints from informal business requirements; and to deal with ambiguity, competing objectives and incomplete variables
- Ability to simplify complex algorithms to ensure understanding of users.
