Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking to engage the services of a Mechanical Draftsman.The incumbent’s role will be to review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts through his/her working knowledge of mechanical parts as well as computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Required outputs: Functional
• Perform design/drafting tasks using established procedures, including but not limited to: concept design, working design, checking of layouts, tolerance study and light engineering calculations.
• Design, model and draw mechanical interfaces between printed circuit boards and Electronic Blasting control equipment.
• Locate, verify and obtain quotations from various approved suppliers for new designed control equipment.
• Ensure all documents are under document control.
• Perform engineering layouts for fit, form and function checking.
• Perform and document changes for drawings, documents, build sheets, test procedures and product information manuals.
• Assist engineers with testing of equipment in test lab environment.
• Participate in regular meetings with co-workers.
• Prepare mechanical design and calculations on assigned projects as a part of a design team.
• Produce high quality detailed engineering drawings on SolidWorks.
• Prepare documentation according to company standards.
General
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Ability to be organized and follow a systematic method of performing a task
• Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and implementations of these
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to sort and file mechanical designs in a configuration control system
Qualifications and expertise required (Must)
• N6 Mechanical or Draftsman or equivalent.
• Certificate from an accredited drafting school preferred.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
