Mechanical/Electrical Engineer (shafts infrastructure)
Our client, a copper mining company, based in Zambia would like to appoint a Engineer at their operations. The company is one of the major copper producing companies in Zambia.
PURPOSE
The incumbent will be responsible for the provision of engineering expertise primarily with regard to the vertical shafts at the operations in Zambia to ensure optimal operational levels and to provide guidance to all engineering personnel within his area of responsibility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, a Government Certificate of Competency, and
• Registration as an Engineer with ECSA;
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining operations of which 5 years will be on senior management level covering vertical hoisting and support shafts infrastructure
• Assume overall responsibility for the shafts at the clients operations in Zambia and should have extensive experience of winders, shaft infrastructure, ropes, stations and crushers
• Computer literacy
• Willingness to relocate
• Valid driver’s licence

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide engineering oversight, guidance and direction in all aspects of engineering relevant to the operations with specific reference to shafts infrastructure
• Assume overall responsibility for the shafts at the clients operations in Zambia and should have extensive experience of winders, shaft infrastructure, ropes, stations and crushers
• Assist in the development of operational excellence by analyzing operational performance and recommending means of continuous improvement
• Design and redesign safety systems to the required level of defect
• Ensure systems are established, standardized, integrated and implemented
• Ensure that all aspects related o safety are adhered to and that all mine standards are relevant, regularly updated and adhered to

OTHER INFORMATION:
• 3-Year Contract, extendable for further periods if you have performed well during the initial contract.
• Also a residential position as opposed to a fly-in-fly-out position.
• Settling-in and Travelling allowance
• Medical aid for all family members living with him/her in Zambia
• Excellent bonus scheme.
• The incumbent will be responsible for his/her own accommodation and travelling on the mine.

Package negotiable per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
