Job Profile:

Position Mechanical Engineer
Type Short to Long Term Contract

Duties:

Assist with design validation of bulk material handling equipment.
Generation of material take-offs for design studies and project costing purposes
Assessment of client specifications in all aspects of the design phase
Liason with the client and subcontractors
Execution of basic and detail design
Overseeing of vendor and subcontractor equipment design and fabrication
Mechanical design and detailing of equipment as per customer requirements
Interact and expediting between drawing office, mechanical design engineers, fabricators and quality control
Responsible for manual calculations and FEA analysis
Management of the interactive flow of information between drawing office, mechanical design engineers and civil, structural and mechanical sub-contractors
Manage the mechanical subcontractor and suppliers to meet deliverables
Site installation and commissioning support
Assist in drafting and checking of contracts
Evaluation of subcontractor and equipment vendors proposals received – technical and commerical
Compilation and management of as-built documentation
Compilation and management of plant technical and maintenance manuals
Investigation and co-ordination of corrective measure that may arise on site during construction and warrantee period.
Minimum requirements:

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in design and project management of heavy equipment industry.
BSc / B-tech and Professional Registration with ECSA will be added advantage.
Technical and Behaviour Skills requirements:

Must be able to work individually and in a team
Must be able to work under pressure
Must be able to work overtime whenever required
Must be able to travell and visit site whenever required
Must be able to operate 2 and 3D CAD softwares and produce detail drawings
Must be able to work individually and in a team
Must be able to negotiate with clients
Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis will be an added advantage
