This position is responsible for the design, development and integration of mechanical packages and process systems within an EPCM and/or EPC project environment. The incumbent will be required to work with the project team i.e other engineering disciplines, administration, planning, cost control, project management, and package vendors for the successful implementation of a project.
The incumbent will be solely responsible for all SMPP (structural, mechanical, plate, and piping) integration and package management, and for liaison with the mechanical drawing office
Experience: 3 years minimum
Qualifications: B.Eng (Mechanical) or B.Sc.Eng (Mechanical), ECSA registration and/or SAIMechE registration will be advantageous
Minimum Skills: Computer literate; MS Office Suite; Basic CAD; Good verbal and written communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design:
• Develop detailed mechanical designs and calculations;
• Develop scopes of work, datasheets, and design specifications for mechanical and SMPP packages;
• Check drawings;
• Co-ordinate the Drawing Office (DO) during design development, and resolve engineering design issues;
• Account to engineering and project management;
• Oversee and lead mechanical discipline items in FEED, and design phases of EPC/EPCM projects;
• Capability to be able to perform calculations for:
? Pump selection (particularly water);
? Materials handling;
? Structural steel design;
? Mass and heat transfer;
• Manage electronic information in an effective and clear manner to allow all project personnel to access and understand the relevance of the information.
Project Specific:
• Understand the Client’s project requirements;
• Submit required project documentation (such as timesheets, work reports, drawing registers, and so on);
• Be able to judge and communicate anticipated durations required for work packages;
• Manage work packages to stay within the allotted budget;
• Identify as early as possible when a project package will not remain within budget and communicate with the section leader/manager the necessary changes to the budget, scope, and schedule;
• Proactively work within the project to anticipate possible problems and communicate them timeously with the section leader/manager; and
• Communicate with the section leader/manager when a work package is complete and can be invoiced.
Administration
• Review project responsibility status on a weekly basis;
• Organise and purge the work package (the resulting electronically filed information should be a clear, concise, and manageable file for future reference and use); and
• Suggest ways to improve the office workflow, procedures, and infrastructure
