FOREMAN MECHANICAL

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12/N3;
• N4 engineering studies;
• FLMP or equivalent Certificate;
• Trade Certificate (Red Seal);
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as artisan in the mining and Plant maintenance environment;
• Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant mechanical experience within Mining and production environment;
• Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience in the engineering environment;
• Code B/EB drivers licence.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
• Sound knowledge of Fitter and Boilermaker technical issues;
• Interpersonal, Management, Leadership and Communication skills;
• Computer literacy MS office suite;
• Basic Financial/Accounting knowledge;
• Conceptual and pro-active Planning skills;
• Forecasting skills;
• Analytical skills;

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE, INTER ALIA:
• Allocate appropriate work to subordinates and monitor whether the work is completed according to the set standard;
• Contribute to employee training and development by conducting on-the-job training where required and report accordingly and provide feedback;
• Do performance review, recommend and approve development plans;
• Maintain internal relations, including the interface across departments to ensure departmental needs are meet and employees are satisfied;
• Provide relevant and specialised technical support to applicable stakeholders;
• Assist with compilation of annual budget taking into account previous and current expenditure and mine requirement forecast future needs;
• Monitor spending and allocate expenses to appropriate cost account and submit correct invoice for processing;
• Adhere to all applicable safety, health and environment practices and procedures to ensure compliance at all time;
• Promote safety culture and awareness amongst fellow employees on ongoing basis thereby contribute to SHERQ objectives;
• Identify and address all unsafe practices / potential hazardous situation, rectify and report to the stakeholder;
• Conduct mini-risk assessment before commencing with any job and take remedial action where necessary to ensure adherence;
• Recommend changes to systems so that they congruent/authorized and drive for authorized improvement;
• Participate in the improvement team established by the manager;
• Identify opportunities to eliminate waste and reduce operating cost and act on the improvement recommended by the supervisor;
• Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of all plant and infrastructure, machines, and equipment to limit failure and optimise production processes and coordinate plant shutdown;
• Conduct roots cause analysis on machinery failures and regular high cost replacement to address assets performance problem and / or to reduce cost;
• Initiate or conduct roots cause failure analysis in line with procedure to extend mean time between equipment failure;
• Suggest improvements or remedial action based on conclusion derived from analysis and investigations;
• Analyse the effective of labour utilization and revise the content of job plans and job intervals;
• Produce procedures and process as remedial action/ outcome and implement in own area and recommend to planned maintenance systems to be updated for changes required;
• Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time.
