Mechanical Foreman

Our client, a mining concern based in the Northern Cape is looking to employ a Mechanical Foreman

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 or N3
• Certificate in First Line Management or equivalent
• Trade certificate as qualified artisan
• N4 certificate in Engineering Studies
• Minimum of 3 years’ applicable plant or mine experience
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant mechanical experience within an heavy industry, mining or production environment
• Minimum of 2 years’ management or supervisory experience
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence
• Computer literacy in MS Office
• Knowledge of the relevant legislation with regard to safety, trade and industry, mining activities and labour
• Knowledge of risk assessment, disciplinary procedures, lockout procedures, lifting equipment, various types of welding, metallurgical processes, engineering processes and budgeting
• Skill in first aid, coaching, tool handling, basic rigging, plating and development
• Supervisory skills
• Communication skills
• Organising and planning skills.

Supervising and developing team members

Developing and maintaining productive relations with internal and external customers

Budget and cost control

Adhering to all applicable safety, health and environmental practices and procedures

Supporting and assisting with change initiatives

Generating and implementing team improvement ideas

Ensuring effective and preventative maintenance management of all plant and infrastructure machines, systems and equipment

Coordinating plant shutdowns

Conducting root cause analyses of machinery failures and regular high-cost replacements

Appointing external investigators where necessary and managing the investigation process

Suggesting improvements or remedial action based on investigations

Analysing the effectiveness of labour utilisation

Producing procedures and processes as remedial action

Updating and changing the maintenance system

Performing ad hoc or any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time.
