MISSION:
Ensure that the team follows safety standards and regulations as per company policy and MHSA Act.
Ensure the team is trained and competent to carry out their duties
Oversee quality of Mechanical execution in the plant
Manages and motivates the mechanical team
Ensure co-ordination and co-operations between their and other departments

PERFOMANCE CRITERIA
Safety
Minimise frequency and severity of accidents or incidents of maintenance personnel and contractors
Review and safety incidents or accidents with mechanical team to enforce awareness and learning to prevent re-occurrence similar incidents or accidents
Financial Performance
Comply with maintenance budget compliance
Technical Performance
Improve plant reliability of their respective area of responsibility
Equipment failure rate kept to a minimum as per the maintenance department target
Reduce the number of stoppage for incidents
Compliance with the company's maintenance practices
Participate in roots cause analysis as per RCA trigger to give technical assistance
People Development
Ensure that subordinates are trained to perform their duties
Identify developments gaps of the team in order to improve competency

RESPONSIBILTIES:
Communicate clearly on information relating to potentially dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood
Make sure that key equipment is working properly
Ensure the use of Personal Protection Equipment
Provide a good work environment for the execution team and ensure they have the right and safe tools to carry out their duties
Check for safety and cleanness in the workplace
Promote reporting of incidents by execution team and carry out investigations
Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of work and necessary resources
Assign and contribute in daily Mission Directed Work Team (MDWT) and RCA's
Ensure visibility on site and personal involvement in safety risk assessments
Ensure, upon completion of repairs, that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meet operational requirements, fully inspected, tested, clean and safe
Organize daily review of jobs, to be done and compare to what was planned and immediately correct gaps and notify affected departments
Analyze information from shift reports and incident reports, and adapt the daily planning when necessary
Ensure and control quality of maintenance jobs done by contractors
Provide reporting on repair jobs including consumption of material, specific tools and man hours
Participate in service/shut down planning (challenge & validating scope of work, budget resources) and ensure completion of services/shutdowns as per schedule
Define the mission and objectives and of the execution team in line with the department goals
Review performance of execution team regularly and their IDP's to increase required skills and assist mechanical Manager on the update of their training matrix
Develop and implements a training plan
Participate in monthly supervisor's meetings and communicate decisions taken to execution team
Conduct a green area meeting
Prepare for an MDWT meeting, go through the following reports for preparation: ADAP, Shift Managers Report, Artisan's Report, CRO Report and Maximo
Attend the department meetings
Action new task coming up from the MDWT & Departmental meetings
Follow up with artisans and assist when necessary
Conduct PTO's, VFL 's, Plant Inspection and over inspection
Conduct afternoon/feedback meetings
Update DWOR and daily schedule report
Attend breakdowns and create work orders
Close completed work orders
Authorize X time
Attend RCA, MDWT, MTBF, presentation meeting
Attend the preparatory and actual supervisory meeting
Review SOP, Perform over inspection on TMM, WAH, CONFINED SPACES etc
Complete the Safety file, Attend a section performance meeting bi-weekly. Assist his/her personnel with ESS.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2-3 years experience in a heavy industry
Or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience in heavy industry
Or 10 years hand-on experience with trade test as an artisan with good technical background in a heavy industry

Technical Skills
In-depth knowledge of practical operations
Experience in Development of quality management methods, like ISO 9000 and 9001
Experience in Kilns, Ball Mills, vertical Mills, packer and palletizers, diesel equipment
Experience in plant preventative maintenance programs

Personal Skills
Leadership, Management, Delegation/organization, Decision making abilities
Performance of own staff development, performance orientated, Innovative/anticipation and attention to detail
