Qualification

Qualified laboratory/medical technician
Registered with the HPCSA (ClinPath)
Experience in haematology, flow cytometry, immunology, and serology would be advantageous

Position Description
Perform all tasks and activities according to and compliant with current, approved Policies, Processes and Standard Operating Procedures, based on national and international regulations.
Perform all tasks and activities under the supervision of the Quality Unit Supervisor/Designee.
Non-exclusive list of responsibilities pertaining to the following:

Facility and Safety Management
Environmental control of the general laboratory area
Environmental control of the cleanrooms

Equipment Management
Operation and maintenance of various equipment and devices

Materials Management
Ordering and receiving of supplies and reagents
Evaluation of supplies and reagents received
Assisting the Quality Unit Supervisor/Designee with periodic physical stock takes
Preparing of umbilical cord tissue processing kits
Preparing of umbilical cord blood processing materials
Preparing of collection kits for dispatch

Product Management – General
Storage of maternal serum samples
Inventory of all stored samples and products.
Disposition of non-conforming umbilical cord blood and/or tissue products
Assisting the Quality Unit Supervisor with the preparation of products for release.

Product Management – Umbilical Cord Tissue
Receiving and unpacking of umbilical cord tissue samples
Preparing umbilical cord tissue samples for processing
Processing of umbilical cord tissue samples
Cryopreservation and storage of umbilical cord tissue products
Product Management – Umbilical Cord Blood
Receiving and unpacking of umbilical cord blood samples
Preparing umbilical cord blood samples for processing
Processing of umbilical cord blood samples
Cryopreservation and storage of umbilical cord blood products
Umbilical cord blood sterility testing
Storage of umbilical cord plasma samples
Preparing umbilical cord blood samples for pathology testing

Product Management – Results
Interpretation and handling of laboratory results for successful storage determination
Laboratory result entry, verification and upload to the database
Import of laboratory results to the database

Non-Conforming Event Management
Report all non-conforming events to the Quality Unit Supervisor/ Designee in a timely manner.
Report any occurrences which may have an impact on the final product quality or its results to the Quality Unit Supervisor/Designee.

Other Requirements
Must be able to work every 3rd Saturday. A day off will be given as compensation
Package: R 11 000 – R13 000 depending on qualifications and experience. No benefits are provided.
