We are seeking an experienced Midwife to join this Labour Ward at a leading and advanced private hospital in Southern Suburbs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foetal assessment by means of CTG, palpation & auscultation
• Detection of abnormalities in antenatal and postnatal patients
• Management patient in labour
• Assessment of the newborn & detection of abnormalities
• Administration of medication as per doctor’s orders
• Breastfeeding advice and early detection of problems
• Assist the mother with care of the newborn.

Requirements:

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Midwife
• Prior experience in Labour Ward is essential.
• Willingness to work shifts in accordance with the requirements of the unit.
• Competent in the demonstration and assessment of all clinical procedures and management of risks.
• Basic knowledge of stock control principles.
• The ability to identify and report near-misses and adverse events.
• Knowledge of clinical procedures, the Scientific Nursing Process and BCA bundles.
• A good understanding and application of the nursing scope of practice and knowledge of patient care.
• Be able to function as an effective member of the nursing team by facilitating team effectiveness.
