Job Description:

Operate equipment used in the Sub Level Cave mining method according to standard operating procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

? Responsible for the following:
o Reporting mechanical machinery breakdowns
o Performing lock-out activities as and when required
o Examining work areas to declare working place safe as per standard operating procedures
o Inspecting materials, products or equipment to detect defaults / malfunctioning and report accordingly
o Navigating Long Hole Drilling machinery
o Operating and performing tramming activities on Long Hole Drilling machinery
o Identifying and reporting preventative maintenance on electronic rigging equipment by means of visual inspections
o Supervising or executing tasks related to Block Cave mining drilling
o Housekeeping within the section
? Ensure implementation and adherence to the Mine’s Health Safety and Environmental COP’s, policies, procedures and legal
requirements within the respective area of responsibility
? Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements:

? Grade 12/or NQF Level 4 (relevant to position)
? Valid Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
? Minimum 3 years’ experience within a trackless mining environment as a Long Hole Drill Rig Operator (with Blasting
Certificate) or Underground Miner
? Basic computer literacy in MS Office Suite
? Valid driver’s license
? Completion of a Supervisory Development Programme – an advantage
? Must pass required VIENNA level – assessment to be conducted on Mine
