Position: Miner – Long Hole Drill Rigs

Location: Town of Lime Acres, 160km north-west of Kimberley, 109km south of Kuruman, Northern Cape.
Salary: R33 000 CTC per month (Negotiable)

A Miner – Long Hole Drill Rigs, is sought by one of the world’s leading suppliers of rough diamonds and one of the largest independent diamond groups by resource. They are looking for a ‘diamond’, an individual that outshines his/her peers.

You will be responsible for operating equipment used in the Sub Level Cave mining method according to standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
• Reporting mechanical machinery breakdowns
• Performing lock-out activities as and when required
• Examining work areas to declare working place safe as per standard operating procedures
• Inspecting materials, products or equipment to detect and report on defaults/ malfunctioning
• Navigating Long Hole Drilling machinery
• Operating and performing tramming activities on Long Hole Drilling machinery
• Identifying and reporting preventative maintenance on electronic rigging equipment
• Supervising or executing tasks related to Block Cave mining drilling
• Housekeeping within the section
• Ensure implementation and adherence to the Mine’s Health Safety and Environmental COP’s, policies, procedures and legal requirements
within the respective area of responsibility
• Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12/or NQF Level 4 (relevant to position)
• Valid Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
• Minimum 3 years’ experience within a trackless mining environment as a Long Hole Drill Rig Operator (with Blasting Certificate) or
Underground Miner
• Basic computer literacy in MS Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license
• Completion of a Supervisory Development Programme is advantageous
• Must pass required VIENNA level – assessment to be conducted on Mine

Preference will be given to candidates who reside within the host labour sending area of Kgatelopele (proof of residence may be requested).
