Operational Manager - Life Claims

• Contribute to formulation of Life strategy; contribute to business planning and processes
• Analyse, formulate and execute the business unit’s strategy
• Ensure that all initiatives from Life Claims Management are aligned with strategic objectives
• Promote and ensure effective claims risk management practices relating to Life portfolio
• Implement claims risk management strategy in partnership with Life clients
• Provide high quality claims expertise and input to Claims Consultants, Claims Specialist and all clients
• Manage key client interactions
• Builds collaborative relationships within the business
• Provides support to Business Development and Pricing on an ongoing basis in securing new business and maintaining existing business
• Prepares a strategic and marketing plan for each key client with the main aim of creating value for clients and in turn for the business
• Review all specialised and high risk claims and assist clients with management
• Builds meaningful and trust relationships with colleagues and clients
• Involvement in the ASISA Claims Committee and Scientific Committee of the ASISA Underwriting and Claims Conference
• Promoting the culture and build people capabilities

Qualifications and experience

• BSc (Nursing) or Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
• MBA, MBL or Equivalent would be preferred
• At least five years’ experience in Life Claims
• Ideally 3 years management experience
• Product development experience with sound technical understanding of life insurance dynamics
• Effective networking ability
• Sound knowledge of primary insurance (products, operations)
• Able to work under pressure
• Good leadership (EQ) skills
