Position: OPERATIONAL MANAGER
Based at: SG Convenience & Liquor Cape Town
Reporting to: General Manager – Cape Town
Position overview / summary:
We are looking for a reliable operational manager to be responsible for the overall supply chain management. The purpose is to perform a variety of duties associated with managing a warehouse and inclusive but not confined to the managing of picking, stock transfers, deviation reporting, pre-loading vehicles, cage allocation, supervising staff and document flow.
The goal is to manage the entire order cycle so as to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction.
Job description (role responsibilities and key activities):
• Meets Warehouse / Distribution operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews, implementing productivity and quality standards, resolving problems, identifying warehouse improvements.
• The incumbent must have the relevant experience to successfully perform duties normally associated with function of an Operational Manager e.g. timely vehicle dispatch, lock up, etc.
• Management of the storing, picking, stock rotation and caging activities within the warehouse.
• Maintains storage area by organising floor space, adhering to storage design principles and recommending improvements.
• Maintain inventory.
• Assists with periodic inventory counts (Stock Take), reconciling variances, inputting data and performing tasks as directed.
• Accomplish warehouse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and counselling employees, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising contributions, recommending compensation actions and adhering to policies and procedures.
• Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
• Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
• Resolve any arising problems or complaints

Required experience, qualifications and skills: Qualifications:-
• B.Com (Logistics), Road Transport Diploma, BSc Engineering.

Experience:-
• As this is an entry level position either one of the following is required: 3 years’ experience within the distribution industry or a degree within Engineering or Logistics.
• Exposure and intermediate understanding of Microsoft and relevant programs.

Skills / attributes:-
• Supply Chain.
• Communication.
• Computer literacy.
• Data analysis.

COMPETENCIES:-
• A clear understanding of the Supply Chain either through study or experience.
• Clear and definite communication ability with regards to
clients, drivers and superiors (written and verbal).
• An intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word.
• Ability to manipulate and understand data.
