• Responsible for all aspects of Life cover, Permanent Disability cover, Temp Disability Cover and Critical Illness claims assessment and claim management, including financial risk
• Ensure delivery of quality, timeous and consistent claims by managing and maintaining workbasket and service level standards
• Ensure that assessment methodology and execution is in line with legislation and best practices within the financial management field in order to optimise the claims assessment service offering and delivery
• To partner and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, not limited to product development, underwriting, CMO, reinsurance partners to improve claims assessment and client experience
• Assist with continuous process improvement efforts by the identification of opportunities, cost reduction, improvement on the quality of claims decisions and systems enhancement
• Manage clients which will include clients at the lower, medium and high end of the market
• Able to represent the company in meetings with clients, provide claims training and perform presentations when required
• Training, mentoring and coaching within the department
• Involvement in departmental projects
• Familiar with the regulatory framework, insurance related court decisions and/or determinations by regulatory bodies, governing bodies etc. that could impact the way claims are processed or handled
• Risk opportunity identification to prevent fraud and to deliver quality work

Desired Experience & Qualification
• Matric with maths, including a suitable medical qualification (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, B Pharm, BSC. Nursing etc)
• 2-3 years industry experience as an assessor of long-term insurance products, preferably an assessor with both Group Risk or Employee benefits and Individual Life experience
