Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible for promoting a learning culture within the organisation, satisfying the training requirements of the SALES teams according to identified training needs, and functionally contributing to the cohesiveness and objectives of the Pharma management team.
Experience and education:

B Degree in Sciences, or equivalent.
A minimum of 3 years’ PROVEN SUCCESSFUL experience as a medical/pharmaceutical representative.
Demonstrated superior product knowledge.
Own transport, willingness to travel, work after-hours from time to time.
National Certificate in Education, Training & Development Practices an advantage.
Proven competence as a superior performer as a medical/pharmaceutical sales representative
Demonstrated proficiency in presenting technical, academic subject matter to groups of people
An understanding of the different medical specialties and their characteristics, practices and product usages.
An understanding of the SA Healthcare landscape, legislation, regulations

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
JOB SPECIFICATION
Product Training:
Liaise with key stakeholders (RSM’s, Portfolio Managers, Representatives) on Training Needs Analysis
Prepare needs-driven training according to a structured programme, and organise all aspects of the training environment.
Prepare and review all material for each training intervention.
Ensure training material is aligned to the PI and approved by the Regulatory Dept.
Conduct refresher training, possibly including travelling to the regions.
Conduct induction/product training for new recruits.
Conduct independent Selling Skills Training.
Set, conduct, assess, and communicate results of product tests for the reps on a quarterly basis.
Maintenance of training records, both electronically and hard copy (where relevant/feasible).

Research and Collaboration:
Ensure training needs are current by working in the field with representatives from all regions.
Search websites, journal clubs, journals and other academic/scientific platforms to update disease and product information.
Engage with Principals/Suppliers electronically, to ensure product labeling and other changes are incorporated into product training material.
Identify and recruit relevant courseware.
Engage with Training Provider on e-learning initiatives.

Self-development:
Study for the National Certificate in Education, Training and Development Practices (ETDP)
Attend relevant courses to develop/augment training–related skills and competencies.
Familiarity with the Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Learnership and Chieta-accreditation
Ongoing review of product content, manuals, Powerpoint slides being developed by Training Provider.

Transformation:
Be cognisant of organisations transformation objectives, in so far as they pertain to Skills Development and BBBEE. Understand the role of the Learnership programme as an organisational transformational initiative.

Budgeting and Expense Management:
Manage Training Operational Expense budget for current year, LBE and forthcoming year. Monitor on a monthly basis and liaise with Head of Finance (Pharma)

Business Risk Identification & Mitigation:
Identify resourcing risk and time allocation, and where necessary implement measures to mitigate the risk (postpone ‘nice-to-have’ activities, risk stratify future plans and priorities, etc).

Initiatives and Projects
Explore new technologies (e.g. social media) and their applicability to pharmaceutical training. Engage with e-learning initiatives planned through Service Provider
Implement initiatives that will assist in meeting and advance training methodologies and practices: e.g. Involvement of multi-media, multi-facilitator training, etc.
