My client in Middleburg is seeking to employ a Production Specialist DL (Process), who will report directly to a Production Superintendent.

Purpose Of The Job
To be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner

Qualifications and Experience :
Relevant Chemical or Metallurgical B.Eng./BSc. (Eng.) Degree or National Diploma with specialization in Chemistry or Metallurgy
•Four (4) years’ experience gained in pyro-metallurgical operations (BOF, Steel Plant, DC furnaces, Sub Arc Furnaces)
•Computer Literacy (MS Office/SAP)

The following will be advantageous:
•Minimum of one year experience in a Supervisory or Management capacity
•A recognized managerial qualification
Job Responsibilities :
•Achieve process quality and budget
•Ensure customer satisfaction
•Update process strategy
•Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
•Update SAP Master data
•Report on process measures
•Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
•Research, analysis and development for continuous improvement of metallurgical processes at the furnaces. This includes technical report writing, Mass and energy balance development and presentation of results.
•Management of projects, which includes control of project budgets and delivery of results and recommendations on time
•Ensure proper integration of improvement projects
•Training and coaching of subordinates
•Financial Management
•Performing Standby duties
•Act in a higher level as and when required.
•Work overtime as and when required.
•Ensuring OHSA Safety & Health standards are maintained.
Ensuring conformance with Quality and Environmental standards.
