Project Manager – For HIV Paediatric Diagnostics (2 year Fixed Term contract)

Main purpose of the job
Manage the implementation of a district-based paediatric HIV surveillance study to identify gaps in the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission program and to develop, test and implement the distribution of the national paediatric HIV surveillance reports to improve outcomes of early infant diagnosis and treatment of HIV nationally

Location

NICD Offices - Sandringham

Key performance areas

Collate field data with the NHLS data warehouse data for reporting and presentation
Train, supervise, monitor and report on district based co-ordinators of the study
Trouble shoot and manage challenges in the field to achieve all objectives on time
Team work with health program managers, IT and M-health specialists
Occasional travel to the health districts will be required
Generate and submit required reports.

Required minimum education and training

Master’s degree in Health Sciences or Epidemiology. PHD an advantage
Experience in use of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Required minimum work experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience in project management and data analysis

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

High quality data analysis, report writing and presentation skills; statistical analysis an advantage
Good Clinical Practice certificate would be an added advantage
Excellent leadership, communication and management skills
Ability to work independently and in a team is essential
Knowledge of the health care system
Good interpersonal and organizational skills
Valid driving license is essential, as traveling to health districts is required
Project administration including budgeting and expenditure
Working experience with UNICEF funded programmes will be an added advantage
