The position of Proposal Engineer in the Solution Sales department, Johannesburg has become available.

The ideal applicant must be a self-motivated person who can liaise with clients & suppliers on a technical as well as commercial level. The applicant will be responsible to ensure that quotes can be transformed into projects which can be designed, implemented and commissioned according to the client’s expectations and within budget

 

The ideal candidate will be someone with minimum 5 - 10 years’ experience in a related role within the industrial refrigeration industry. The successful applicant should have a Grade 12 and a Tertiary Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical and or Electrical).  Registration with ECSA and SAQCC will be an advantage.

 

The duties of this position will include but will not be limited to the following:

Market Observation

  • Analysis of internet information, technical press and trade fair notes
  • Internal exchange of project and customer information together with agents and colleagues of other companies (including the BA Solutions sales team)
  • Competition observation, searching for new projects, customers and opening up of new business markets

 

CRM – Customer Relationship Management

  • Taking care of customer contacts, regular customers and key account customers
  • Intensification of existing and new client contact i.e. customer ‘face time’ (both home and abroad)
  • Marketing of complete portfolio and establishment of work groups / teams as required in order to offer clients a complete solution i.e. ‘cross application’
  • Liaising with clients & project realisation staff during the life-cycle of projects in order to ensure that the system design as sold to the client is delivered.
  • Provides technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.

 

Acquisition

  • Building-up and acquisition of new customer relationships (both home and abroad)
  • Participation in trade fairs, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets 

 

Analysis of Tender Documentation

  • Check of inquiry documentation / user requirement specification(s) / standard conditions of contract, etc.
  • Transfer of the specific enquiry details (and supporting information) to the relevant segments / individuals involved to facilitate the development of proposals

 

Quotation Establishment

  • Coordination of and support for quotation development
  • Creation and management of short, medium and long term customer development plans
  • Presentation and explanation of the quotation to the customer (both technical & commercial aspects).
  • Assists Key Account Managers in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Project Design & Sales (both home & abroad) i.e. meeting with clients, establishing their requirements, developing a system design, costing the design, developing proposals, presentations, etc. and then presenting & negotiating the contract with the client(s)
  • Check availability of components and initialize procurement process if necessary
  • Assist with updating price lists and customer data basis

 

Order Placement

  • Preparation and support on order placement / contract signing
  • Leading of sales negotiations
  • Project handover from sales department to order settlement
  • Management of customer after order placement

 

Others

  • Customer contact for open claims, support of debt recovery
  • Creation of presentations, i.e. general or specified ones
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Ensuring that regular meetings take place with APC-U / project realization team, in order to ensure that the estimating program is updated / modified with actual costs.

 

 

We require a disciplined and self-motivated individual, someone able to make decisions, work within a team environment and be able to work under pressure without supervision. It is required to work overtime as and when required in order to meet deadlines.
