Job Description:
Purchasing and Supply Manager

The incumbent will manage and execute the transactional and strategic purchasing activities throughout the Company, thus delivering a purchasing function against set organisational targets and service standards.
Manage all procurement activities throughout the purchasing and supply chain in the organisation to ensure that purchasing activities are conducted and provided in a fair, equitable, transparent, cost effective, efficient and effective manner;
? Develop and execute purchasing and supply strategic plans which are linked to the unit business plan and key performance areas;
? Determine procurement risks associated with all contract purchases in the Company;
? Manage a professional team of procurement specialists and buyers to ensure a professional and efficient service offering to the organisation;
? Implement and manage procurement supply catalogues for all identified commodities;
? Expedite orders to monitor quality, on time deliveries, preferential procurement and savings to the organisation in line with the B-BBEE targets and allocated budgets;
? Create cost savings opportunities from bulk buying, pooling of efforts and economies of scale by applying strategic sourcing initiatives;
? Build strategic, professional and ethical relationships with internal clients and the Company suppliers
? Liaise with internal customers and external suppliers in a professional and efficient manner, to ensure the best possible procurement mechanism for goods and services;
? Establish and manage selected contracts with external suppliers to ensure that the Company strategic interests are considered in relationships with suppliers;
? Participate in the development of contract and procurement negotiation strategies, coordinate and conduct negotiations with suppliers to achieve business objectives;
? Manage the purchasing process including electronic-based support systems;
? Define and build system needs for ongoing monitoring of effectiveness and modifications;
? Develop procurement policies, procedures, processes and ensure compliance of the procurement portfolio;
? Establish procurement standard operating procedures;
? Keep up to date with market trends and new technologies in procurement and react to changes;
? Report relevant management information accurately and timeously;
A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent relevant qualification with at least five years’ experience in a supply chain/procurement management environment;
? A postgraduate qualification in a supply chain management will be advantageous;
? At least five years managerial experience;
? Evidence of management of at least ten procurement professionals will be advantageous;
? Assertiveness, management and negotiation skills ;
? Attention to detail and knowledge of procurement legislation;
? Knowledge of foreign exchange treasury policies;
? Good e-procurement system knowledge;
? Problem solving, results and solution focused;
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
? Strategic thinking and decision making skills;
? Strong customer service orientation, sourcing and buying skills.
